Therapists & Counsellors

Ann O’Hanlon

Psychologist, Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Ann O’Hanlon graduated from UCD with a degree in Psychology, following which she completed a Masters in Business Studies at the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, specialising in Organisational Behaviour. She is a professionally qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, holding a Graduate Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, from DCU. She also holds a Certificate in Advanced Clinical Skills from Turning Point. She has previously worked as a psychotherapist at Turning Point and at the Student Health Centre, UCD.

Ann is a firm believer in the essential nature of human beings as a composite of mind, body, spirit and emotion. We are always ‘more than’ simply one dimension. We all have vast inner resources to manage our own lives and have the answers within. Her person-centred approach endeavours to assist clients to tap into their inner being and thus find the solution they are seeking which may be blocked through a myriad of hurts or trauma, e.g. denial, anger, sadness, grief. Being fully present to another without prejudice or conditions, sitting with their pain, travelling on the same road, and completing the journey are vitally important. Clients are empowered by the witness of another (the therapist), who is not giving advice, not fixing, not pontificating.

B.A (Hons) Psychology
H. Dip Integrative Counselling
Member of Psychology Society of Ireland:
Pre accredited IAHIP

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist working in South Dublin. I currently work with the psycho-oncology team at St Vincent’s University Hospital helping clients deal with cancer diagnosis and terminal illness. In this work I focus on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and CBT. This is crucial in helping clients deal with anxiety and stress. I also work with clients on a range of other issues including grief and loss, stress and anxiety, trauma, bullying and depression. Counselling gives you a space to explore any issue that is of concern to you.

In a supportive, non-judgmental environment you will have the time and space to engage in self-reflection with a focus on your wellbeing and personal growth. I believe you have taken the first step on what could be an very rewarding journey!

I studied a B.A in Psychology as University College Dublin (U.C.D) and then completed an M.Sc in Advertising at the Dublin Institute of Technology (D.I.T) which fulfilled all my creative ambition and paved the way to a 10 year career in television. My ambition is to continue highlighting mental health issues by creating awareness. With this passion for positive mental health I returned to my psychology roots and qualified as a counsellor and psychotherapist after completing a H.Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Dublin City University (D.C.U).

Ivan Molloy

I have extensive experience working in both mental health and addiction treatment.

My training and professional background encompass social work, person-centred counselling and psychoanalyticpsychotherapy. I am fully accredited by both the National Social Work Qualification Board and The Association for Psychoanalysts and Psychotherapists of Ireland (APPI).

My experience of working therapeutically with people living with emotional distress, such as anxiety and depression, often manifesting in addiction, relationship failure or other patterns of self-destructive behaviour, has taught me that these very normal human experiences are neither random nor untreatable. Rather, the full range of human emotions has an intelligible source, rooted in our personal history. I see the therapist’s role as working with individuals or couples to uncover the roots of their difficulties with a view to enhancing a sense of reality, control and well-being.

To facilitate this work there must be a relationship of trust and respect between therapist and client. Accordingly, my approach is informed both by the humanistic principles of empathy and respect and by a Freudian understanding of the unconscious, a combination, which I find lends itself to an experience of therapy that is supportive and emotionally rewarding.

Catherine Keers

Centre Director, Psychotherapist, Counsellor

I graduated from the Tivoli Institute in Dublin with a Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have 14 years of experience and am an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy and the Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy and abide by their codes of ethics.

I have been running the centre since 2002 and have been working with clients on issues relating to both their personal lives and their working lives. I regularly contribute to articles in the Irish press on psychotherapy and related issues.

My approach is “integrative” which means I draw on a background of Psychodynamic, Person-centered, Gestalt and Cognitive Training. While there are various approaches to psychotherapy, I believe what most successful therapies have in common is the quality of the relationship of mutual respect and trust between client and therapist. Particular areas of interest to me are self-esteem, confidence and self-perception.

I have a background in business and have undergone additional training in Stress Management, Assertiveness Skills and Negotiation Skills.
